A player's turn consists of the following:
- Supply action
- Main action
- Optionally, any number of buying or selling actions
- Take your ship marker and move it to next free supply tile:
- In first round, supply tiles are face down and are flipped face up when landed on. They remain face up for rest of game
- Place tokens shown on supply tile you just landed on into offer spaces
- After a player lands on last supply tile, go through end of round process and next turn will be first turn of next round
- If word "Interest" is printed on supply tile, all players must pay 1 franc if they have at least one loan:
- If player is unable to pay 1 franc, they must sell a building or ship or take another loan:
- Then player pays 1 franc
- If player is unable to pay 1 franc, they must sell a building or ship or take another loan:
Player then must do one of following:
- Take all tokens from one of 7 offer spaces
- Use a building action:
- Move player disc to unoccupied building and carry out action
- Building must be owned either by town or by any player:
- If owned by another player, pay fee at top right of building card to owner of building:
- If you cannot afford fee, cannot enter building
- Food cost can always be paid using francs instead
- Francs cost can never be paid using food
- If owned by another player, pay fee at top right of building card to owner of building:
- All buildings owned by town or on top of three Building Proposal piles can be purchased
- Only topmost face-up ship card may be purchased:
- Ships may be purchased even if nobody has built a wharf yet:
- Wharves are only needed to build ships
- Ships may be purchased even if nobody has built a wharf yet:
- Buildings and ships can be sold to town for half of their value:
- In case of odd values, halved value is rounded down
- Sold buildings are placed with other buildings owned by town
- Sold ships are placed on top of ship card pile of that type of ship
- Buildings cannot be sold and bought on same turn
- Buildings and ships may not be sold to other players
- If player disc is on building when it is sold, it is returned to player
Buildings
- New buildings can be built using "Construction Firm" and "Building Firm" buildings
- At start of game, these buildings are owned by town
- A player can enter building to build any building on top of a Building Proposal card pile by paying building cost

- Brick can always be used to pay clay cost
- Steel can always be used to pay iron cost
Ships

- Place 1 brick on wharf
- Brick token remains on wharf for rest of game to show it has been modernised for all players
- Wharf may only be modernised when building ship
- You do not need to own wharf to modernise it
- Loans can only be taken if player:
- cannot pay interest on existing loans
- cannot pay food cost during feeding phase
- Player receives 4 francs for taking loan
- A loan may be repaid at any time
- This costs 5 francs
- Any loans unpaid at end of game will cost player 7 francs
- Refer to line of round card corresponding to player count
- Harvest Phase:
- If "No Harvest" is shown on round card, this phase is skipped
- Each player with at least 1 grain receives 1 grain
- Each player with at least 2 cattle receive 1 cattle
- Feeding Phase:
- Each player must pay amount of food shown on pot symbol on round card
- Each ship owned by player reduces required amount of food at this step
- 1 franc counts as 1 food for this step
- If player ships produce more food than required, player does not keep excess food
- Town Building Construction Phase:
- If round card shows card icon with no anchor:
- Take card with lowest sort order number from Building Proposal piles and place with towns buildings
- If round card shows card icon with anchor:
- Turn top card from Special Buildings pile face-up
- If round card shows card icon with no anchor:
- Turn ship card over to show ship, then place ship card pile of that ship type
When final round card has been turned over, round stage is completed and final stage of game is triggered.
Each player then takes one more turn and carries out a final action, starting with start player:
- No supply or buying actions can be performed
- Interest is not paid
- Players may still repay loans or sell buildings/ships
- In final stage, players may move to building already occupied by other player discs
- You may not enter building again that you are already in at start of final stage
Final scoring then commences
Player's final scores are sum of following:
- Value of all buildings/ships owned by player
- Additional value of buildings with + icon on them, which depends on other buildings owned by player
- Cash in hand
- Deduct 7 francs for each loan that was not repaid
Player(s) with most francs wins!
